The notes are a companion to "Map the Work Before You Configure It" on the ETS blog. Pick one flow the business cannot fake (dock-to-stock, make-to-ship, or hold-to-release), name it in floor words, and walk it with the people who run it, on the shift that runs it, second shift included.

Fill the pages in order. Capture each step as it really happens, with who does it, the system or screen it lands on, whether it is documented, and where paper or a workaround fills the gap. Then log the exceptions and rework loops, every customization (the Zs) with its standard alternative, and every handoff between roles and systems, marking the ones that rely on a spreadsheet, a radio call, or memory.

Finish with the fit-to-standard summary: where the work does not fit the SAP Signavio Process Navigator flow, what fixes it (configure, change the process, labor or steel, or a Z), the open questions about who decides, and the next steps with owners. That list is the map. Hold it against the standard before anyone talks custom.

The notes are available above as a printable PDF.
